Anwar-Ul Alam Chowdhury, a prominent and a visionary of Bangladeshi business person. Being a visionary, he was able to recognize the future prospects of the Ready Made Garments (RMG) Industry for Bangladesh, which certainly turned out to be the single largest source of Export earnings for the country today.
Mr. Chowdhury was born in 23 November, 1959 at Dhaka in a respectable Muslim family. He completed his S.S.C. from Government Laboratory High School, Dhaka and H.S.C. from Dhaka College. After that he completed Bachelors of Management from Dhaka University. Furthermore, to pursue Master of Business Administration (MBA), he went to the USA and completed from College of Palm Beach, Florida, USA.
He always wanted to contribute to the well-being and prosperity of the country by generating employment and empowering a large section of female population. Mr. Chowdhury has been deeply involved in the formation and running of the export-led organizations.
From a small-scale beginning in 1983, Chowdhury has successfully diversified the operations, both vertically and horizontally, through his vision and tenacity. He started “Evince Garments Limited” with a relatively small investment and a workforce of about 350 employees at Dhaka. The group now has a total of 13 industries. Out of which, the Garments, Textile, Design and Fashion and Retail Business & employing more than 10,000 employees. This is the only Group in the country who is Manufacturer of almost all type of accessories like sewing thread, button, woven label, carton, poly bag so on and then fabrics & garments and also a deemed exporter selling to 200 RMG export oriented factories. The Group exporting to USA and also have an organization who are exporting waste cotton to Europe.
Mr. Chowdhury playing a visionary role nationally and globally in Business development. He is a running President for Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI). He was playing a role as President of BGMEA (2007-2009). Also he was the Director of FBCCI (2006-2007).
Mr. Chowdhury is the Board of Director of International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh(ICCB), Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), Member of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BMCCI), Dutch Bangla Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DBCCI),
As a citizen Mr. Chowdhury always committed to the society. He is a President of Dhaka University Alumni Association and a Life time member of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh.
As a part of Social Responsibility, Mr. Chowdhury involved with various welfare activity and as a part of his corporate social responsibility he regularly attends and contributes the social programs. He is a member of Gulshan Shooting Club, Gulshan Youth Club, Uttara Club, Banani Club and Ajax Club, Kurmitola Golf Club.
Mr. Chowdhury firmly believes a constant managerial training is necessary for all level of Manager so that team can understand their responsibility and update themselves with present management requirement. As a Managing Director of the group, he is personally supervising the marketing side of the business as well as coordination of production. That is the way to strengthen the team members of the organization and the key of organizational success. His company won the certification of ISO 9001:2000.
He also won the Export Trophy (2007-08), Atish Dipankar Award (2008) & Desher Kagoj Award (2006) and several other awards.
